Little Bird Says FAQ

Find answers to common questions about sending anonymous feedback, checking replies, privacy, organization accounts, and free plan limits.

Sending feedback

Do I need to give my name or email?

No. You create an anonymous identity with one click. We don’t ask for your name, email, or phone number.

What is my identity code?

When you create an identity, you get an 18-character code. It’s the only way to sign back in and read replies, on this device or another one. Take a screenshot, or save it in your password manager.

What if I lose my code?

We can’t recover it. We never store the code itself, only a scrambled version we can check it against, so no one, including us, can look it up. Without it you can’t get back to your conversations, but you can create a new identity and send new feedback.

How do I find the organization?

Scan its QR code, open the link it shared, or enter its 6-character feedback code. Organizations that choose to be listed also appear in the public directory.

Can the organization reply?

Yes. You both reply in the same conversation, and replies show as coming from the organization, not a named person. We don’t email you, because we don’t have your email, so sign in with your code to check for replies.

Are there limits on what I can send?

  • Subjects and messages have a maximum length, shown on the form.
  • You can start a new conversation with the same organization only after a waiting period; replies don’t count toward this.
  • Replies in a conversation need a short pause between them.
  • Each conversation has a maximum number of messages.
  • Text only, no attachments, and sent messages can’t be edited.

Privacy and safety

What can the organization see?

They seeThey never see
Your subject and messagesYour identity code
Which code you used (the whole organization, a location, or an event)Your IP address or device
When each message was sentYour conversations with other organizations

Can I still be identified?

Possibly, from what you write. Details, writing style, or timing can point to you, even though we never pass on who you are. Keep the subject generic, and leave out names and details only you would know.

Do you record my IP address?

Only briefly, to stop spam and password guessing: for example when an identity is created or a sign-in fails. These records aren’t linked to your identity or feedback, and they delete themselves within a certain time frame.

Do you use cookies?

Only the ones that keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and our page-view counting (Umami) uses none.

How long is my feedback kept?

26 months after the last message in a conversation, then it’s deleted automatically. A new message restarts the clock.

What if the organization retaliates?

Our Terms forbid organizations from trying to identify senders or retaliating against them. Little Bird Says isn’t an emergency service or a legally protected whistleblowing channel, unless your organization has arranged that separately. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.

For organizations

How do I get started?

  1. Register with your email and a password.
  2. Verify your email from the link we send.
  3. Name your organization. You get a feedback code, a link, and a QR code straight away.

How do people reach us?

Share your code, link, or QR code, or print a ready-made poster from the app. You can add a short description that people see before they write.

What are locations and event codes?

  • Locations each get their own code, so you can tell feedback from different sites apart and give Staff access to only theirs.
  • Event codes are for something short-lived, like a company party, for the whole organization or one location. Disable a code when the event is over.

Who on our team can read feedback?

Invite members by email as Admin or Staff.

  • Admins see everything and manage members, codes, settings, and the audit log.
  • Staff read and reply to feedback. You can limit Staff to certain locations.

Members get an email when new feedback or a reply arrives, and each can turn this off.

What can we do with a conversation?

Reply, add your own tags (senders never see them), and archive it when it’s done. An Admin can block a sender, which stops new feedback from them; you never learn who they are.

Do we have to be in the public directory?

No. Listing is optional and you can turn it off in Settings. Unlisted organizations are reachable only through their codes.

Plans and limits

Is it free?

Sending feedback is always free. Organizations can use the free plan for as long as they like; the paid plan raises the limits.

What happens if we reach a limit?

You keep everything you have, but can’t add more until you remove or disable something, or upgrade. For event codes, disable one to add another.

How do we upgrade?

Paid plans are coming soon. If you need higher limits before then, email support@littlebirdsays.com.

Accounts and support

How do I change my email or password?

Organization members can change their name, email, and password on their profile. Anonymous identities have only the code, which can’t be changed.

How do I delete my account or our organization?

Email support@littlebirdsays.com. For an anonymous identity, we can only help if you can show you hold its code, because we have no other way to know it’s yours.

Someone is pretending to be our organization. What do I do?

Email support@littlebirdsays.com with the organization’s name and feedback code. We can remove listings and suspend accounts that break our Terms.

Where can I read the details?

See our Privacy Policy and Terms. For anything else, email support@littlebirdsays.com.
